Mining Equipment

Mandate:
The Mining Equipment Committee contributes to the promotion and protection of the safety of workers in Ontario's mines as it relates to equipment. This is accomplished through a committee of representatives from the mining industry who, in consultation and discussion with the industry's stakeholders, meet regularly to identify & prioritize related safety issues, make recommendations and provide advice and guidance to Ontario's mining community through MASHA.

(Note - "equipment" includes crushers, rockbreakers, conveyors, electrical installations and mobile equipment, but not the hoist plant, used in the mining environment.)

  • Guideline for safe operation of remote control equipment
  • Research:
  • Line of Sight development of products, interactive game, safety meetings
  • Whole-Body Vibration, evaluation of seat performance
  • Multi-piece rim and wheel assembly, computer modeling
