Mobile equipment is a major cause of serious accidents and fatalities in Ontario’s mines, pits and quarries. Each year, roughly seven people are killed or very badly injured working on or around equipment like loaders, trucks, graders, lifts, bulldozers, forklifts and tractors.

MASHA has declared 2006 the Year of the Safe Operator. Our Safe Operator Campaign is designed to give companies and equipment
operators the knowledge they need to
prevent equipment accidents.

The Safe Operator Campaign is designed for companies in Ontario’s mining and aggregate sectors. Companies can register for the campaign and receive free materials throughout 2006 for their equipment operators, supervisors and managers. Each month from March through December focuses on a different topic.
