Exposure to Whole Body Vibration in Mining, Transportation, and Construction - COMPLETE
The Health and Safety Issue
Equipment operators in mining and aggregate workplaces may spend hours every day on their machinery. Exposure to vibration from the equipment can cause both long-term and short-term health concerns.
MASHA's Partners
Research into equipment vibration has been funded by the Research Advisory Council of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). The project is undertaken by Laurentian University, and is monitored by MASHA's underground equipment TAC.
The Research Project
The two-year study, completed in 2003, used a triaxial accelerometer to assess the exposure of the operators of various types of vehicles to whole body vibration in mining, transportation, and construction.
