MASHA Diesel Emissions Symposium 2009
Ground Support Tendons

Safe Operator Campaign

Project Outlines

Design guidelines for dynamic behaviour of ground support tendons

The Health and Safety Issue
Falls of ground and rockbursts have traditionally been a leading cause of injuries in underground mines. MASHA's Ground Control Technical Advisory Committee identified the need for increased knowledge about ground support systems.
MASHA's Partners
A research project supported by MASHA, funded by WSIB and conducted by CANMETs Mining Research Laboratories
The Research Project

CANMET reviewed the world literature and is producing a number of datasheets containing static and dynamic data for various ground support tendons. This information may be used in the design of ground support systems in underground mines.
Individual datasheets have been prepared for mechanically anchored rockbolts, resin rebar, friction stabilizers, Swellex, MCB (modified cone bolts) and other ground support tendons. All datasheets will be posted on the MASHA website in Spring 2008.
