MASHA is able to confirm that a fatality in the mining sector occurred at Inco's Stobie Mine in Sudbury on March 6, 2006. One worker was fatally injured while operating a load-haul-dump machine from a remote platform at the 2,600-foot level.

The accident is under investigation.

This report has been confirmed by two independent sources. However, the report is intended to provide early notification, and information may be at variance with official investigation reports.
