Two Canadian heroes set to headline MASHA’s annual conference

MASHA’s 2010 conference will take delegates from the heights of space to the hard ground of the battlefield. Two heroes from right here at home will open and close the first full day of the conference, April 21, 2010.

Opening Keynote

Canadian Astronaut Dave Williams has participated in two shuttle missions, and logged 687 hours in space, including three spacewalks - the highest number ever performed in a single mission. Williams also has a strong health and safety background as a former emergency room doctor and director of emergency services at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital. As opening keynote speaker, Williams will talk about motivation and managing risks.

Closing Keynote

Former Canadian Forces Master Corporal and medic Paul Franklin lost both his legs to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. His fight to regain mobility is captured in the book “The Long Walk Home”. Now retired from the military, Franklin works with other amputees and tells his inspirational story to audiences across the country.
